This division was founded in 1996. It focuses on the ecology of micro-organisms in natural and man-made ecosystems. The division participates in the annual two-days symposium in spring with the other non-medical oriented divisions and organises a one-day syposium in autumn together with scientists from other disciplines, such as geologists and soil biologists. The division is also a virtual platform for all microbiologists interested in ecology.
