The scientific programme will focus on current advances in the science and research of bacteriocins and antimicrobial peptides. At BAMP2013 leading scientists from industry and academia will present and will discuss current advances in the research of bacteriocins and antimicrobial peptides. Key themes will be isolation, characterization, mechanism-of-action, food, clinical and veterinary applications of novel or already characterized bacteriocins produced by lactic or non-lactic acid bacteria.

Further to its scientific content, BAMP2013 will be a networking event, a unique opportunity to meet those who are worldwide involved with basic research or application development of bacteriocins and antimicrobial peptides. Initiation of cross-border co-operations between scientists and institutions are also facilitated.

Course on Molecular Diagnostics (VIII)

The Erasmus Medical Center houses many different molecular diagnostic techniques, which are subject to continuous research and are developed based on their practical applications. These applications are based on all areas of the healthcare, such as Clinical Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Complex Diseases, Forensic Science, and a broad spectrum of oncological adaptations.

This course will bring the state-of-the-art of these areas of the Molecular Diagnostics, and is meant for translational researchers as well as doctors and medical specialists operating outside of their initial field of research. But also PhD-students and technicians are welcome. This course is a yearly updated version of the first issues organized from 2007 on. It will be given in English. On Thursday evening, we offer participants and speakers a dinner in Restaurant Indonesia.

The conference programme will focus on current advances in the science and research of probiotics, prebiotics and their present and future role in maintaining health and preventing diseases. IPC2013 aims to highlight evidence-based benefits as proven in clinical trials and scientific experiments.

Further to the health effect of probiotics and prebiotics new developments in their selection, identification, production, application and delivery will be discussed. Topical subjects as safety, regulatory issues and claim substantiation will be also addressed by internationally renowned experts from industry and academia.

It is the goal of IPC2013 to further explore the potential of already used and novel probiotics by disseminating current insights and new approaches in probiotic and prebiotic research. In addition novel strains, controversial but scientifically solid ideas, approaches, visions will be presented. Worldwide co-operation between scientists and institutions will be facilitated.
